Hi! I'm a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University, double majoring in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Computer Science. I'm passionate about combining insights from both fields to develop sustainable solutions and advance drug delivery systems. Currently, I'm conducting research at the Bevan Lab, where I focus on colloidal and macromolecular interactions, dynamics, and structures. In my free time, I like to explore farmers markets, create pottery, or knit while watching The Great British Bake Off.

My work involves measuring and manipulating colloidal and macromolecular interactions, dynamics, and structures in interfacial and confined geometries. Considering thermodynamic and kinetic factors create rationale for manipulating material properties and dynamic processes, that have applications in traditional complex fluids and nano- and microtechnologies. I measure colloidal interactions by monitoring structures at equilibrium and non-equilibrium using optical microscopy and scattering methods. By integrating these methods, we can directly measure 3D colloidal trajectories, enabling the study of assembly processes, ultrasensitive probes for biomolecular interactions, reconfigurable electromagnetic materials, and environmental systems. This methodical approach progresses from single-particle studies to complex multi-particle systems, advancing the understanding of interfacial colloidal behavior.

I assist two class sections by helping students debug their projects and practical coding exercises. I held office hours where I clarified Python programming concepts like object-oriented programming, algorithms, and data structures. Additionally, I proctor exams and grade assignments, providing detailed and constructive feedback. Through these roles, I strive to create a supportive learning atmosphere and contribute to the students' academic success.

My work investigated a potential association between specific genes on chromosomes 6 and 8 and susceptibility to urinary tract infections. I performed analysis on genomic sequence datasets to identify key candidate genes and conducted extensive literature reviews to evaluate their potential relevance. In the lab, I performed wet lab experiments, including PCR, genotyping, Western blotting, ELISA assays, and RNAScope. I analyzed the resulting data using Excel, creating graphs and conducting statistical tests to derive conclusions. I presented my findings to the team and collaborated with other researchers, contributing valuable data collection and supporting their experiments.

I authored a paper for a competition focused on the physiological and behavioral impact of human hunting on bison populations. Through a comprehensive literature review, I identified a research gap, formulated a hypothesis, and developed a methodology. I analyzed hundreds of vocal recordings from bison populations to extract formant frequencies, which are indicative of vocal tract length and, by extension, body size. To streamline the analysis, I created scripts to automate the extraction of formant values. After analyzing the data, I concluded that the formant values reflected physiological changes in the bison populations. I presented my findings through data charts and summarized the results in a written paper.
